Haverhill – Eleanor G. (Ellery) Ball, 92, of Haverhill, widow of the Elston N. Ball, passed away Wednesday, September 20, unexpectedly at her residence after being stricken ill suddenly.Born in Haverhill, she was the daughter of the late, Albert R. and Dorothy M. (Abbott) Ellery. Raised and educated in Newburyport she attended Newburyport public schools and Newburyport High School.Relocating to Haverhill to raise her family, Mrs. Ball was employed as LPN for local nursing homes, including Hannah Duston and the Oxford Manor for many years until retiring at age 70. She then continued working in the private sector as a personal care attendant. She was very active in the community. A patriotic woman, she was a member of the Lorraine Post 29 VFW, serving on various boards as Junior Vice President, Senior Vice President, and President in the Ladies Auxiliary for over forty-seven years.A devoted mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, she cherished her family and time spent with them. She is survived by her loving children Caroline D. Chaplick and her husband, Stephen, of Haverhill, Richard S. Ball, of Bradford, Timothy A. Ball, of Haverhill, Menetta S. King-Rogers, of Gilmore, TX, William N. Ball, of Haverhill, and Edward F. Ball and his wife Linda, of Barrington, NH. She also leaves four sisters Lucy Wyman, of Haverhill, Helen Mantarian, of Newburyport, Mary Sanborn, of East Kingston, NH, and Margaret “Peggy” Lambert, of Tewksbury, thirty grandchildren and several great grandchildren and nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her son, Ernest A. Ball, and siblings, Albert R. Ellery Jr, Frederick E. Ellery, and Grace Conwell.Friends and family are respectfully invited to calling hours on Sunday from 2:00 PM until 5:00 PM at the Kevin B. Comeau Funeral Home, 486 Main St. Haverhill. Funeral services will be held Monday morning at 10:00 AM at the Good Shepherd United Methodist Church, 471 Main St. Haverhill. Burial will follow at Hillside Cemetery, 750 Broadway Haverhill.
