Haverhill-Joann Ruth (Walters) Seymour, 86, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, April 21, 2017 at Holy Family Hospital in Haverhill after being stricken ill at home.Born in Portsmouth, NH, she was the daughter of the late James &amp Ruth (Callahan) Walters. Raised and educated in Haverhill, Joann was a graduate of the Haverhill High School, Class of 1948, and obtained her professional degree from McIntosh Business School in Lawrence. Joann was selected and named “Miss Haverhill” in 1948 and married her adoring husband Joe in 1957. In addition to raising her family as a full time homemaker, Joann worked for Mal’s Department Store in Haverhill and was later employed with the IRS in Andover before ultimately retiring. She served as a long time crossing guard for Walnut Square School and was a supporter of Haverhill Youth Hockey and the Haverhill High School Booster Club. A woman of great faith, Joann was an active member of All Saints Parish and dedicated volunteer at St. Joseph’s School in Haverhill. She and her husband Joe enjoyed extensive travel throughout the United States and Europe. In addition, Joann took pleasure in playing Bingo and enjoyed frequent trips to Foxwoods. Joann was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, who will be dearly missed and remembered lovingly by all who had the pleasure to have known her.She is survived by her husband of 60 years, Joseph A. Seymour of Haverhill their son, Joseph A. Seymour &amp wife Paula and twin granddaughters, Courtney &amp Emily, all of North Andover. She leaves her sister Marilyn Biel &amp husband Robert of Calabasas, CA several nieces, nephews, and many dear friends.Family and friends are respectfully invited to attend calling hours on Wednesday, April 26, 2017 from 4 until 8PM at the Kevin B. Comeau Funeral Home, 486 Main St., Haverhill. Funeral services will begin Thursday, April 27, 2017 at 9AM from the funeral home with a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10AM at All Saints Church, 120 Bellevue Ave., Haverhill, and burial to follow in St. James Cemetery, Haverhill.
