Joseph E. Donohue, 84, husband of the late Marie E. (Des Ormeaux) Donohue, passed away January 19, 2019 at his home surrounded by his loving family.
Born in Haverhill, he was the son of the late John F. and Yvonne L. (Metthe) Donohue. He attended Merrimac Public Schools and was a graduate of Haverhill Trade School, Class of 1952. Joseph served his country during the Korean War in the United States Army 187th Airborne Regiment where he received a purple heart and was and was honorably discharged. He was employed for over 35 years at Lucent Technologies, formerly Western Electric and AT&T, as a Layout Operator. After his retirement, he volunteered his time at the Sacred Hearts Food Pantry in Haverhill and was always involved in the community. Joseph enjoyed traveling, especially to Ireland. He loved gardening with his flower and vegetable beds. A devoted family man, he enjoyed spending time with his wife, children and grandchildren. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
Joseph is survived by his children, Kellie M. Pond and her husband Edward of Sandown, NH; Jean T. Finley-Donohue and her spouse Donna of Ogunquit, ME; Kate A. DiBurro and her husband Larry of Haverhill; Timothy J. Donohue; Judie Y. Sullivan and her husband Brian of Groveland; Kasie J. Donohue of Haverhill; six grandchildren, Joseph Pond, Chelsea Pond, Jack DiBurro, Elizabeth DiBurro, Shannon Sullivan and Drew Sullivan; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his loving wife, he was predeceased by his brother John F. Donohue, Jr.
