Mary Ann M. (Walsh) Rorke, 78, wife of Daniel A. Rorke, Jr., passed away January 20, 2019 at High Pointe Hospice in Haverhill with her loving family by her side. She was the daughter of the late Francis and Carmen (Cicchetti) Walsh. Raised and educated in North Adams, she was a graduate of North Adams State College with a degree in Teaching. ln November, 1962, Mary Ann married Dan, the love of her life, beginning their fifty-six year journey together. Mary Ann was a beloved elementary school teacher in the North Adams school district for several years, then took time off to raise her family in Burlington, Vermont, and New York. In 1974, the family moved to North Andover, Massachusetts where Mary Ann renewed her role as an elementary teacher at the Bradstreet, Thompson, and Sargent schools where she retired in 2001. She was a member of the Massachusetts Teachers Association. After retirement, she lived in Bradford before moving to Plaistow, NH. Mary Ann was very proud of her parochial education under the tutelage of the Sisters of St. Joseph, a devout catholic, active in her church communities, a communicant of St. Michael’s Church and Sacred Heart Parish. Mary Ann was an avid reader, a creative artist, and a wonderful writer. Above all, family was the center of her life; she was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother who will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
In addition to her loving husband Daniel, she is survived by her children, Matthew C. Rorke of Quincy; Patrick F. Rorke of Ft. Lauderdale, FL; Christopher J. Rorke and his wife Mary Alice of Marion; Carma M. Rorke of Plaistow, NH; Sean T. Rorke of North Adams; seven grandchildren, Maggie Rorke, Jude Rorke, Lily Rorke, Marianna Miller, Gabriel Miller, Daniel Rorke, Liam Rorke; her brother, Patrick F. Walsh and his wife Jacqueline of Calgary, Canada; sister in-law Nancy Walsh of Adams, and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her son Daniel A. Rorke, III and brother Francis Walsh.
