Arthur Joseph Howes, Jr, 86

Haverhill – Arthur Joseph Howes, Jr, 86, beloved husband of Patricia A. (Colburn) Howes, passed away peacefully on November 29, 2025 at the High Pointe Hospice House in Haverhill after a period of declining health.

Born in Winchester, and raised in Wakefield, Mr. Howes was the son of the late Arthur Sr. and M. Doris (Amiro) Howes. He attended St. Mary’s High School in Lynn and was a Graduate of the class of 1956. Shortly after graduation he enlisted into the U.S. Air Force in 1956 and served until his honorable discharge in 1960. Upon his return, he continued his education at Merrimack College earning his MSEE and MBA from Suffolk University.

Mr. Howes was employed as an electronics engineer at the Western Electric in North Andover retiring from Lucent Technologies after thirty–two years of service.

Arthur and his wife Patricia enjoyed traveling through Europe, predominantly the British Isles. A man of strong faith, he and his wife were active in their Catholic communities including St. James, and most recently, Sacred Hearts Parish. He was also an avid golfer and a member of the Haverhill Country Club for over 30 years.

Along with his loving wife Patricia of forty seven years, he leaves a brother in law, Robert W. Colburn, of Billerica and several nieces, nephews, cousins, and close friends he made throughout his life. He was predeceased by his sister, Judith A. Howes and brother in law and sisters in law, Francis and Mary Ellen Colburn and Janet Colburn.

Memorial donations may be made in Arthur’s memory to the charity of one’s choice.

Family and friends are respectfully invited to calling hours at Sacred Hearts Church, South Main St. Bradford from 10:30AM until 12:00PM and a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 12:00PM on Saturday, December 6, 2025. Inurnment of his cremated remains will follow at the Linwood Memorial Wall with Military Honors. Arrangements are under the direction of the Kevin B. Comeau Funeral Home 486 Main St. Haverhill.     Arthur thank you for all the great times playing golf. You taught me a lot of things that I still use today. I’ll always remember your beautiful golf swing. You took a lot of money from me….I hope you are spending it in heaven. Love Always…your friend Tom.
