Groveland – Barbara Helen (Blaisdell) Wilbur, 88, wife of David R. Wilbur passed away on Sunday, March 13 at the Hannah Duston Healthcare Center surrounded by her loving family.Born in Groveland, she was the daughter of the late John and Esther (Sweetser) Blaisdell. Raised and educated in Groveland, she attended Groveland Public Schools and was a graduate of Groveland High School, Class of 1946. Barbara and her husband David were married in 1954 and started a family. She worked various jobs, as a telephone operator for New England Telephone and at various part time jobs while raising her children. She later worked for the Internal Revenue Service and in the business office of the Pentucket Regional School District. She was a member of Cedardale Athletic Club in Groveland and Bradford and enjoyed playing tennis there. She also enjoyed spending time at the beach. Barbara loved the holidays and looked forward to cooking and baking for her family. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother and loved spending her time babysitting her beloved grandchildren.In addition to her loving husband she is survived by her children, David J. Wilbur and his wife Mary Ann of Braintree Mary Ellen Gleason and her husband Sean of Bradford Stephen P. Wilbur and his wife Elizabeth of Merrimac and her sister, Esther Roche and her husband Richard of Groveland seven grandchildren, Jessica Wilbur, Courtney Wilbur, Jocelyn Wilbur, Molly Gleason, Michael Gleason, Stephanie Wilbur and Brandon Wilbur and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her siblings, Alice Buckley, Anna Hatch, Mary LaBranche, Fred Blaisdell, Billy Blaisdell, Joe Blaisdell and Jackie Blaisdell.Family and friends are respectfully invited to attend calling hours on Thursday, March 17 from 4:00PM until 8:00PM at the Kevin B. Comeau Funeral Home, 486 Main Street, Haverhill. Funeral services will begin on Friday morning at 10:00AM from the funeral home with a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 11:00AM at St. Patrick’s Church, 114 Center Street, Groveland. Burial will be in Riverview Cemetery, Main Street, Groveland. Contributions may be made in her name to the Alzheimer’s Association, 480 Pleasant Street, Watertown, MA 02472.
