Carl Band

Groveland – Carl A. Band, 84, husband of the late Barbara A. (Colby) Band, passed away June 20, 2018 at Masconomet Healthcare Center in Topsfield surrounded by his loving family.Born in Concord, NH, he was the son of the late Forrest and Mildred (Anderson) Band. He was a graduate of Concord, NH High School, class of 1952. Carl was a road builder. He worked as Superintendent on many major highway projects throughout the northeast including the I-95 expansion in Newburyport. After settling in West Newbury, he continued in the construction field eventually owning his own company. Carl thoroughly enjoyed being part of the industry and never turned down the opportunity to check out a construction site. Carl enjoyed summering at Loon Pond in Gilmanton, NH with his family and many friends. He and Barbara both loved music. For over 20 years they spent many weekends traveling and performing with the The Barnstormers, a men’s choral group. He will be missed by all who knew him, loved him and cared for him.Carl is survived by his children, David S. Band and his wife Diane Hillsborough, NC Geoffrey A. Band and his wife Nancy of Londonderry, NH Laurie J. Collins and her husband John J., Jr. of Groveland. Grandchildren, Brian and Amber Band, Michael Band, Stephen and Rudianne Collins, Geoffrey Band, Jason Band, Brenda and Jake Baughman. Great grandchildren, Carl, Liliana, Barrett, Logan and Trevor. He was predeceased by his brother Paul.Family and friends are respectfully invited to attend a funeral service on Monday, June 25 at 11:00 AM in the Groveland Congregational Church, 4 King Street, Groveland. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in his name to the Masconomet Resident Council Fund, 123 High Street, Topsfield, MA 01983.
