Catherine A. (Maguire) Dufresne, 76, died Monday July 2, at the Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston, surrounded by her loving family.Born in Haverhill, she was the daughter of the late, Thomas and Helen E. (Morey) Maguire she was raised in the “Acre” section of the city and would raise her family there as well. Educated in Haverhill, she attended Haverhill public Schools and was a Graduate of Haverhill High School, Class of 1953. She continued her education at Northern Essex Community College and received her Degree in Accounting. A lifelong member of St. James Parish, she was also a member of the St. James Sodality.Primarily a homemaker, as her family grew Mrs. Dufresne went to school with her children, as she worked at St. James Grammar School as a lunch room monitor for close to twenty years. In more recent years she enjoyed playing cards with friends at the senior citizens center.A devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, she leaves her beloved husband of over fifty-five years, Edward H. Dufresne Sr, five children, James T. Dufresne and his wife, Carolyn, of Plaistow, NH, John C. Dufresne, of Haverhill, Anne M. Webster, and her husband Richard, of Atkinson, NH, Mary E. Dufresne, of Haverhill, a daughter in law, Bonnie Dufresne, of Newton, NH, nine cherished grandchildren, Dawn Dufresne, Jessica Lopez, Katie Webster, Nicole Hubbard, Corey Dufresne, Justine Dufresne, Krystina Dufresne, Molly Dufresne, and Kassandra Kemp, five great grandchildren, Azrial, Zavien, Dylan, Tegan, and Tadem, a brother Thomas A. Maguire and his wife Leslie, of Haverhill, a sister, Margaret Clark, of Exeter, NH, and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her son, Edward H. Dufresne Jr.Friends and family are respectfully invited to call on Sunday, July 8, from 3 until 7 PM at the Kevin B. Comeau Funeral Home, 486 Main St. (Rte 125) Haverhill. Funeral services will be held on Monday at 9:00 AM from the funeral home with a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10:00 AM in St. James Church, Winter St. Haverhill. Burial will follow in St. James Cemetery, Primrose St. Haverhill. Memorial donations may be made to the Joslin Diabetes Center, 1 Joslin Place Boston, MA 02215, or the American Heart Association 20 Speen St. Framingham, MA 01701-4688.
