Clifford L. “Red” Grandmont, 83, of Haverhill, died Sunday, March 21, 2010 at the Merrimack Valley after being stricken ill suddenly at home.Born in Haverhill, he was the son of the late Clifford A. and Lucy (Gardella) Grandmont. He attended Haverhill public schools and was a graduate of Haverhill High School.A Veteran of World War II, he proudly served his country in the U.S. Army.Mr. Grandmont was a self employed painting contractor, proprietor of Grandmont Painting Co., retiring in 1995. He was a model airplane enthusiast, an avid fisherman, and he never drove past a yard sale or auction without stopping. He was a lover of all animals.The widower of Eileen F. (Rand) Grandmont, who died in 2003, he leaves four sons, Clifford J. and his wife Tara of Winterhaven, Fla., S. Michael and Carlene (Windle), Joseph L., James M. and his fiancee Amanda Bayliss three daughters, Rose Mary Morse and her husband Earl, Deborah J. and Owen Shackley, Patricia E. McComiskey and her husband James, all of Haverhill 16 grandchildren, Paul Straw, Theresa Straw, Patricia Hill, Mark Lucia, Aaron Lucia, Theresa Freeman, Phyllis Dube, Hunter Stewart, Alexis Stewart, Felicia, Ariana, Payton, Logan, Andrew, Michael, Jana Grandmont and 10 great-grandchildren.ARRANGEMENTS: Friends and family are respectfully invited to call on Tuesday, from 5 until 8 p.m. at the Kevin B. Comeau Funeral Home, 486 Main St. (Route 125) Haverhill. A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Wednesday at 10 a.m. in St. James Church, Winter Street, Haverhill.
