Haverhill- David J. Madigan, 69, passed away unexpectedly on October 17th, 2015 at St. Elizabeth’s Medical Center in Boston due to complications from surgery.David was born in Haverhill on August 12, 1946, son of the late James D. and Melva L. (Gelinas) Madigan. He attended Tilton School and graduated from Haverhill High School, Class of 1964. After graduating he joined the United States Army and proudly served during the Vietnam Era. Upon returning home he became a cook at the former Arlington Diner in Haverhill and then became an assistant manager for the Woolworth’s Department Store also in Haverhill. He enjoyed driving school buses for the Coppola Bus Company in Bradford as well as being a Real Estate broker for Brooks Realty in Haverhill. David decided to further his education and graduated with a degree in Gerontology. He was a nursing home administrator for several local nursing homes until the time of his illness.David enjoyed golfing and was a big fan of the Boston Red Sox and the New England Patriots. Most of all, he loved spending time with his family and friends.David is survived by his two sisters Kathleen L. Cravino and her husband James of Plaistow, NH and Eileen M. Chapman and her husband Chester of Kingston, NH. He also leaves his children Jason E. Madigan and Justin P. Madigan of Barrington, NH, Jennifer R. Reifler and her husband Michael of Barrington, NH, four grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He leaves special friends, J. Bradford and Paula Brooks of Haverhill and Arthur and Donna Hughes of Libertyville, IL.Until we meet again, may God hold you in the hollow of his hand.Family and friends are respectfully invited to attend calling hours on Wednesday, October 21st from 4:00PM until 7:00PM at the Kevin B. Comeau Funeral Home, 486 Main Street, Haverhill. Funeral services will be on Thursday morning at 10:00AM. Burial will follow at St. James Cemetery, 360 Primrose Avenue, Haverhill.
