Donald P. Daignault, 73, of the Bradford section of Haverhill died Saturday, April 21, 2012, at the Merrimack Valley Hospital, after suddenly being stricken ill at home.Born in Haverhill on March 17 1939, he was the son of the late, William A. Sr. and Angeline (Strickland) Daignault. Educated in Haverhill public schools, he was a Graduate of Haverhill High School, Class of 1957. Later attending New Hampshire College, Donald earned a degree in Criminal Justice, graduating from the class of 1985.A dedicated civil servant for over 24 years, Mr. Daignault was employed by the City of Haverhill, serving honorably for fourteen years as a police officer, and later as a city health inspector, retiring seven years ago. His dedication and commitment to the service of this city will be a lasting legacy to all who worked alongside him.Donald loved horse back riding, most importantly with his beloved horse “Cowboy”, he enjoyed sports cars, especially Corvette’s and could often be found spending time on the beach or on the deck of his home where he loved being out in the sun. He will be sadly missed by his family and friends but his memory will remain with them forever.Donald is survived by his loving wife of fourteen years, Mrs. Brenda Joyce (Piazza) Daignault of Haverhill, one step-son, Sean Oakhem and his wife Chrystal of Windham, NH, two step-daughters, Gail Oakhem of Los Angeles, CA and Tara Perrin and her husband Ben of Hong Kong, China, one brother, Rodney Daignault of Clearwater, FL, three sisters, Romaine Ingham of Hampstead, NH, Dianne Meuse of Danville, NH, and Marlene Hurley of Windham, NH, one grandson, Shane Oakhem, three grand-daughters, Ashley Oakhem, Alexandra and Jacquelyn Perrin, several nieces and nephews, and his two beloved dogs, Molly and Moxie. He was predeceased by his mother and father in law, Mr. Angelo and Simone Piazza, sister in law, Donna Fluet, two brothers, Robert Daignault, who died bravely in combat during the Korean War, William A. Daignault Jr., and one sister Dorothy Sanville.Friends and family are respectfully invited to call on Tuesday, April 24, from 4 until 8 PM at the Kevin B. Comeau Funeral Home, 486 Main St. (Rte 125) Haverhill. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 10 AM from the funeral home with a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 11 AM in Sacred Hearts Church, South Main St. Bradford. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, suggested memorial donations may be made to Lawrence General Hospital, PO Box 189 Lawrence, MA 01842-0389.
