Doris A. (Wood) Prescott, 84, of Haverhill, died Monday, July 23, 2012 at her home surrounded by her loving family after a courageous battle with cancer.Born and educated in Cambridge, Vermont, she was the daughter of the late, William J. Duffey, and Ina (Russell). Relocating to Haverhill fifty-two years ago Doris was employed as a Nurses Aid at the former Haverhill Manor Nursing Home for twenty-five years and later became a Private Duty Nurse, caring for many clients in the Haverhill area.In her spare time Doris enjoyed quilting, sewing, and macramé, and her daily walks with her beloved dogs. She was a member of the Red Hat Society of Georgetown. Prior to her husband’s death in 2002 she and George enjoyed nothing more than traveling to lake Moxie in Maine and spend months at a time at their cabin on the lake.She leaves four sons, Alan P. Duffy and his wife, Patricia, of Illinois, Donald J. Duffy and his wife, Jeanne (Sampson) of Haverhill, Kenneth P. Duffy, and Charles J. Hill, all of Haverhill. Two daughters, Debra Baril and her husband, Jeffrey, of Derry, NH, and Joanne and her husband, Giovani Rosario, also of Illinois, a brother and sister in law, Wesley and Dot Wood, of PA, sisters, Dorothy Nolan, of FL, Diane Whitcomb, of Worcester, Nancy Barber and her husband Joe, of Burlington, VT, and Olive Douglas, of Vergennes, VT, fourteen grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.Friends and family are respectfully invited to call on Wednesday, July 25, from 5 until 7 PM at the Kevin B. Comeau Funeral Home, 486 Main St. (Rte 125) Haverhill. Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 9:00 AM from the funeral home with a Mass of Christian burial to be celebrated at 10:00 AM in St. James Church, Winter St. Haverhill. Burial will follow in Harmony Cemetery, Central St. Georgetown.
