Haverhill – Dorothy A. (Herring) Gauvin, 85, of Haverhill, passed away peacefully with her family by her side on May 27, 2014 at the Wingate at Haverhill nursing Home. Mrs. Gauvin was born in Groveland, and raised in the Acre section of Haverhill, the daughter of Chester and Rose (Murphy) Herring. Educated in Haverhill, she attended St. James Grammar School and was a graduate of Haverhill High School, class of 1946, and a lifelong Parishioner of St. James Church. Mrs. Gauvin was employed as a lunch room cook and kitchen manager for the Haverhill Public School System spending nineteen years at the Consentino Grammar School, and one year at the Hunking School in Bradford. For many years, she and her husband wintered in Florida and summered at Lake Winnipesauke. She enjoyed bowling, BINGO, and a friendly game of cards.A devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, she was the widow of Richard H. Gauvin who died in 2001. She leaves her loving children, four sons, Richard H. Gauvin Jr., and his wife, Nancy, of Merrimac, David A. Gauvin and his wife, Linda, of Port Ritchie, FL, Daniel L. Gauvin and his wife, Paula, of Tuftonboro, NH, and Dennis W. Gauvin and his wife, Carol, of Bradford, two daughters, Dianne M. May and her husband, Mark, of Plaistow, NH, and Dawn M. Gauvin, of Bradford, eleven cherished grandchildren, Lisa Gauvin, Jason Gauvin, Justin Gauvin, Mashelle Pike, Melissa Durkin, Michael Gauvin, Mark Gauvin, Christopher Lyons, Patrick Lyons, Christopher May, and Timothy May. She also leaves seventeen great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brothers, Chester and Robert Herring, and sisters, Mary O’Brien, Gladys Shephard, Jane Lusignan, and Joan Sweeney.The entire Gauvin family would like to thank the staff of the Wingate at Haverhill for their kind and compassionate care during their mothers stay.Friends and family are respectfully invited to call on Thursday from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM at the Kevin B. Comeau Funeral Home, 486 Main St. (Rte 125) Haverhill. Funeral services will be held on Friday morning starting at 9:00 AM from the funeral home with a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10:00 AM in St. James Church, Winter St. Haverhill.
