Dorothy A. (Shepard) Johnson, 64, of Haverhill, died Thursday, September 15, at the Lawrence General Hospital after a lengthy illness.She was born and educated in Dedham, the daughter of the late, Ernest and Catherine (Wharton) Shepard and has been a Haverhill resident for the past forty years.Dorothy was employed at the former William Carter Co, and later, as a Nurses Aid at the Haverhill Manor Nursing Home, and also at the Howard Johnson Motor Inn all in Haverhill. A devoted mother and grandmother, she enjoyed spending time with her family and cherished grandchildren. She loved animals, and in her spare time enjoyed knitting, and quilting. A selfless woman with a big heart, she always thought of others.The widow of Walter M. Johnson Sr., she leaves her loving son and daughter in law, Walter M. Jr, and his wife Sherri L. (Vadeboncoeur) Johnson, of Derry, NH, three grandchildren, Syleena, Madison, and Felisha, a sister, Alice Rettman, of Franklin, and nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her siblings, Peter, Ernest, Joseph, Kathleen, and Henrietta.Friends and family are respectfully invited to call on Monday morning from 9 until 11 AM at the Kevin B. Comeau Funeral Home, 486 Main St. (Rte 125) Haverhill. Graveside funeral services will be held at the Hillside Cemetery, Broadway, Haverhill, following the period of visitation.
