Haverhill – Douglas F. “Buddy” Allen, 72, of Haverhill, died Thursday, February 20, 2014 at the Oxford Nursing Home after a lengthy period of declining health.Born in Derry, NH, he was the son of the late, Charles F. and Clarice (Taker) Allen. Raised and educated in Haverhill, he was a graduate of Haverhill High School, class of 1959.Mr. Allen was employed as a manager at the former Haverhill Paperboard Company in Bradford. He also worked part time tending bar at Kelley’s in Bradford for many years. He enjoyed fishing and horse racing at Rockingham Park.He leaves two sons, Brian Allen, of Newton, NH, and Stephen Allen, of Haverhill, four sisters, Jean DiFloures and her husband, Anthony, of Haverhill, Mabel Deveau and her husband, Armand, of Haverhill, Mary Whittier and her husband, Frederick, of Bradford, Alice Muller, of Milton, NH, and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a son, Gary Allen, brothers, Norman Taker, Charles “Oscar” Allen, Johnny Allen, sisters, Viola Carter, Pauline Kershaw, and Elizabeth Teague.Friends and family are respectfully invited to call on Monday evening from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM at the Kevin B. Comeau Funeral Home, 486 Main St. (Rte 125) Haverhill. A memorial service will be held immediately following the period of visitation at 7:00 PM in the funeral home.
