Dr. Ernest Francis Ruddy, 88, of Plaistow, died Wednesday, April 18, at his home surrounded by his loving family after a lengthy illness.Born in Concord, New Hampshire, he was the son of the late, George M. and Marie (LeMarsh) Ruddy. Educated in Concord public schools, he was a Graduate of Concord High School, Class of 1943. Upon graduation, Mr. Ruddy promptly enlisted into the U. S. Navy. He proudly served his country, mainly in the Pacific Theatre, and earned five battle stars. He was honorably discharged in December of 1945.Returning home from service, Dr. Ruddy continued his education at the Palmer Chiropractic Institute of Iowa. His long career included treating patients locally at the Parkman Chiropratic Clinic in Plaistow, and later, joining his brother at the Ruddy Chiropractic Center in Concord, NH.An avid outdoors sportsman, he enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was a lifetime member of the Plaistow Carl Davis Post American Legion, the Plaistow Fish and Game, the Country Pond Fish and Game, and Ducks Unlimited. He was a founding member of “The Ruddy Duck Club.”A devoted husband, father, and grandfather, he leaves his beloved wife of sixty-five years, Mary (Lynch) Ruddy, of Plaistow, a son, Michael F. Ruddy and his partner, Donna Corbitt, of Franklin, NH, a daughter and son in law, Kathleen J. and Charles J. “Chuck” Moynihan, of Haverhill, six cherished grandchildren, Christopher Cantin and his wife, Corina, Ryan Ruddy and his wife Carrie, Jill Bloomstine and her husband, Chadd, Catherine Carcio and her husband, Marc, and, Patrick Moynihan and his wife, Brianna, six great grandchildren, twins, Anthony and Nicholas Cantin, Craig and Jessica Ruddy, and Adalynn and Decklen Moynihan and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his daughter, Pamela A. Cantin, grandson, Craig Ruddy, and siblings, Ruth Rabun, Bernice Ruddy, Dr. George Ruddy, Madelyn Lavalliere, Richard Ruddy, and Sylvia Brown.Friends and family are respectfully invited to attend funeral services on Saturday at 11:00 AM in the Kevin B. Comeau Funeral Home, 486 Main St. (Rte 125) Haverhill. Burial is private. The family would like to express their gratitude to the Plaistow Fire and Rescue Squad for the commitment to the community and families they serve.
