Haverhill – Edward F. Quigg, 69, of Haverhill, died Monday, February 10, 2014 at the Merrimack Valley Hospital after being stricken ill suddenly at home. Born in Welsford, New Brunswick, his family moved to Maine as a young child. Raised in Greenville, Me, he was a graduate of the Greensville High School. Upon graduation Edward entered the U.S. Air Force. A Vietnam Veteran, Mr. Quigg served from 1963 until being honorably discharged as Sergeant in 1968. Mr. Quigg was employed as a laborer and warehouse shipper and receiver for local companies in the Merrimack Valley. He first worked at the Merrimack Reel and Spool Co. on River St. and later at Foss Manufacturing Co. in Ward Hill. He then went to Lucent Technologies for twenty years, retiring in 2001. he was a member of the Teamsters Local 4114.A devoted husband, father, and grandfather, Mr. Quigg was known to be a humble man with a big heart along with a dry sense of humor. He would give the shirt off his back and be there to help anyone in need. He enjoyed playing pool, and had a lifelong fondness for trains. As a young boy his father worked for the railroad in Maine and he would help his dad shovel the tracks at the local train station. He cherished his summer vacation trips back to the Greenville area of Maine.He leaves his beloved wife of forty-four years, Marie E. (Gebala) Quigg, of Haverhill, three loving daughters, Kristie Quigg-Smedile and her children, Jacquelyn, Michael, and Izabella, all of Haverhill, Karen Daviduk, her husband, Alan, and their children, Aaron, Phoebe, Autumn, Joshua, Emma, Lily, and Noah, Renee Bellavance and her husband, Kevin, and their children, Shannon and Ethan, Nieces, Veronica Dansereau and her husband, Larry, and their daughter, Nicole, Elizabeth Donlan, and nephew, Joseph Quigg and his wife, Jessica, and a sister in law, Phyllis Quigg, of Colorado. He was predeceased by his brothers, Robert Quigg and Leo Quigg , and sister, Eleanor (Quigg) Howard. Friends and family are respectfully invited to call on Friday evening from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM at the Kevin B. Comeau Funeral Home 486 Main St. (Rte 125) Haverhill. Funeral services will be held on Saturday morning at 11:00 AM in the Rehobeth Lighthouse Full Gospel Church, 409 Washington St. Haverhill, MA 01832.
