Salem, MA – Ernest A. St. Pierre Sr., 85, of Salem, MA formerly of Haverhill, lost his battle with lung cancer On July 29, 2016. He fought a tough battle to try and overcome this dreaded disease for over eight years.Ernie was raised as a State Ward child in Haverhill, MA by the Pare family when both he and his brother, Victor (who is predeceased) were handed over to the State by their mother. He attended Haverhill schools and Haverhill Trade School. Ernie has spent his life searching for those who wanted him and has entered many people’s lives along the way. He was a great person, and a person who truly cared for those in his life. He will be sadly missed by those whose lives he’s touched. An Avid fisherman, he was a member of the Bass Haven Yacht Club in Beverly.A Veteran of the Korean War, Ernie served in the US Navy during the early 50’s. When he returned home, he was a master in the field of sheet metal fabrication and welding. He worked for various companies such as Hatch Sheet Metal, Essex Engineering, West Lynn Creamery and A& M Roofing along with many odd jobs he performed on his own.For his current wife Elaine, with daughters, Dawn and Laurie and sons Mark, Ronny and Steven along with several grandchildren, there will always be an empty void in each of their lives now that he is gone as he has guided and supported them through good times as well as bad. He will be greatly missed by his first born son, Ernie Jr., his wife Brenda, his Grandson Christopher and his great grandson Derek. Ernie will also be sadly missed by many cousins and by the many friends he has made along his path on this earth.Per Ernie’s wishes, there will be no services. At some point in time his final resting spot will be private where he chose to spend eternity!RIP Dad (my best friend) see you later on down the road!
