Gertrude M. (Roy) Pigeon, 88, of Haverhill, died Thursday, May 24, 2012 , at Methuen Village Assisted Living facility in Methuen, MA after a period of declining health.Born on July 9, 1923 in Haverhill, MA, she was the daughter of the late Armand and Evelyn (Comeau) Roy. Educated in Haverhill, she was a graduate of St James Grammar and High Schools. She worked in Haverhill until her marriage and was a lifelong member of St James Parish and the local chapter of the Catholic Daughters of the Americas. She enjoyed playing cards, going to the beach, traveling, and attending gatherings with her husband and their extended group of friends and family.She was the widow of Robert Pigeon whom she shared over 63 years of marriage with. She leaves one son, Robert A. Pigeon and his wife Ann-Marie of Haverhill, one daughter, Ann M Cox and her partner Raymond Gagner of Kittery, ME., sisters Arlene Allard, Violet and her husband Lucien Lapierre, seven grandchildren, Andrew and his wife Denise, Adam and his wife Danielle, James and his wife Lisa, and Alex Pigeon, and Jonathan, Matthew and his wife Tiffany and Timothy Cox, four great-grandchildren, Wyatt, Zoe, and Noah Pigeon, and Brenden Cox. She was predeceased by her brothers Joseph Roy, Raymond Roy and Leonard Roy.Friends and family are respectfully invited to attend funeral services for Gertrude on Tuesday, May 29, 2012 at 11:00 am from the Kevin B. Comeau Funeral Home, 486 Main St. Haverhill, with a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 11:30 AM in St. James Church, Winter St., Haverhill. Burial will follow at St. James Cemetery, Primrose St. Haverhill. A period of visitation will be held prior to the funeral service from 9 until 11 AM in the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Massachusetts Chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association, 311 Arsenal Street, Watertown, Massachusetts, 02472.
