Helen Patricia “Pat” Mooers, 89, of Haverhill, died Monday, Nov. 22, 2010 at Hannah Duston Healthcare Center in Haverhill, after a lengthy illness.Born in Marlborough, she was the daughter of the late, John and Mary (Ryan) Burke. Spending her elementary school years in Bridgeport, Conn., her family relocated to Malden, where she would graduate from Malden High School, Class of 1939. At the end of World War II, she met and married the love of her life, former Haverhill Police Detective, Roland H. Mooers. Moving to Haverhill in 1949, she would spend the rest of her life as an active participant in her newly adopted city.A devoted wife, mother, grandmother and career woman, she was employed as an office manager for the Boy Scouts of America, Lone Tree Council in Haverhill for over 32 years, retiring in 1988. She was a member of the Court St. James #436 Catholic Daughters of the Americas for over 54 years, serving as the Grand Regent, and Treasurer of the organization. As a resident of Mission Towers, she was known as the activities director and organized “Adopt a Platoon” to send supplies to the Troops serving overseas. She also worked the polls at election time.She leaves her daughter, Kathleen A. Gregoire two grandchildren, John M. Gregoire, and Kaitlin P. Baril, all of Haverhill a great-grandchild, Chassity R. Gregoire a sister, Anne F. Fitzpatrick, of Haverhill a niece, Deborah and her husband, Arthur Sullivan, of Hampton, N.H. a nephew, Paul F. Fitzpatrick and his wife Andrea, of Marlboro and great-nieces and nephews. The family wishes to thank the staff of the Hannah Duston Healthcare Center and Merrimack Valley Hospice for the exceptional care they provided to Pat.ARRANGEMENTS: Friends and family are respectfully invited to call on Saturday morning (TODAY) at the Kevin B. Comeau Funeral Home, 486 Main St. (Route 125), Haverhill, from 8:30 until 10:30 a.m. Her funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m. in St. John the Baptist Church, Lincoln Avenue, Haverhill. Burial will follow in St. James Cemetery, Primrose Street, Haverhill.
