Haverhill – Ida Marie (Kutsunakis) Costello, 77, of Haverhill passed away Thursday, July 23rd at the Prescott House in North Andover surrounded by her loving family. Born in Haverhill, she was the daughter of the late Michael and Francis (Howard) Kutsunakis. Ida attended schools in Haverhill and was a graduate of Haverhill High School. She earned her Associates degree in respiratory therapy from Northern Essex Community College. Ida was employed as a registered respiratory therapist for over 26 years at Lawrence General Hospital. She was full of life and everyone she met instantly fell in love with her, even the perfect strangers. She loved playing cards, going out to lunch, and attending plays with her many friends. She enjoyed playing the penny slots at Foxwoods and sometimes she resorted to playing the half penny slots. She loved eating turf and surf (hotdogs and clams ) with her beloved son Jerry at Park Lunch. She liked to cook and her American chop suey was the best. . Ida had an eye for fashion and never gave up an opportunity to buy clothes regardless of what she went shopping for. During her six weeks at Prescott House, her favorite activity was sitting on the patio with her many visitors with the sun shining upon her face. Most of all Ida loved being with her family and especially her cherished and beloved dog “Midnight”. Ida will be missed by all who loved her. Ida is survived by her three children, Gerald A. Costello of Haverhill Debra L. Hiett and her husband David L. of Atkinson, NH and Kathleen F. Costello of Windham, NH one sister, Paula J. Zangari and her husband Michael R. of Haverhill one brother, Michael Kutsunakis of FL and his daughter Michelle seven grandchildren, Tara N. Scarduzio, Timothy D. Hiett, Derek J. Hiett, Peter K Costello, Kelly A. Costello, Jake A. Costello and Taylor D. Proulx two great grandchildren, Tessa Rose Fried and Connor Centyl. She is also survived by her nephews, Robert F. Zangari, Eric M. Zangari, and Michael F. Zangari.. At the request of Ida, funeral services will be private. Memorial donations may be made in her name to the MSPCA of Methuen, 400 Broadway, Methuen, MA 01844 or any animal rescue organization.The family would like to thank the clinical staff at the Transitional Care Unit at Prescott House for their kindness and excellent care of Ida.
