Janine I. (Gendreau) Ringland, 72, of Haverhill, formerly of Groveland, died Thursday, April 21, at the Lawrence Memorial Hospital in Medford, MA, surrounded by her loving family, after a two year battle with Alzheimer’s Disease.Born in Canaan, Vermont, she was the daughter of the late, Hermas and Marie (Garon) Gendreau. Educated in Vermont, she was a Graduate of Canaan High School, class of 1955. She then attended Trinity College in Burlington, Vermont, and upon Graduation began her career in Boston. She and her husband, David, raised their family in Groveland, moving there in 1965, and relocated to Haverhill in 1987.A devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, Mrs. Ringland was also a career woman. Leaving the Vermont farm, she was first employed as a secretary for the Hearthstone Insurance Co in Boston. For the next forty years she was employed as a Legal Secretary, twenty-five of them for Snell and Associates in Wakefield, and fifteen years at the Shyavitz & Shyavitz law firm, in Haverhill. Never time to sit still, when the children were in school she used her secretarial skills to work for the councilor’s office at Pentucket High School, and nights for Haverhill-Lawrence Trucking Co. in Haverhill.She leaves her beloved husband of fifty-three years, David M. Ringland Sr, of Haverhill, three sons, David M. Ringland Jr, and his wife, Anna, of Claremont, FL, Scott W. Ringland and his wife, Marybeth (Horan), of Methuen, Brian J. Ringland, and his wife, Beth, of Jacksonville, FL, a daughter, Michelle M. and her husband, David Dalton, of Derry, NH, six cherished grandchildren, Brandon, Brent, Bethany, Stephanie, and Lauren Ringland, and Katherine Dalton, two brothers, Richard Gendreau and his wife, Patricia, of Colchester, VT, Jules Gendreau and his wife, Gail, of Albany, NY, a sister in law, Jan Gendreau, of Waterbury, VT, and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brothers, Donald and Robert Gendreau.Friends and family are respectfully invited to call on Monday, April 25, from 4 until 8 PM, at the Kevin B. Comeau Funeral Home, 486 Main St. (Rte 125) Haverhill. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday at 8:30 AM from the funeral home, with a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10:00 AM in St. Michael’s Church, 196 Main St. North Andover. Burial will follow at St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Hilldale Ave, Haverhill. Memorial contributions may be made to Alzheimer’s Association, MA Chapter, 311 Arsenal St. Watertown, MA 02472.
