Joann (Warner) Corthell, 84

HAVERHILL – Joann (Warner) Corthell, 84, of Haverhill passed away on June 4, 2025 at the Haverhill Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center.

Joann was a beloved mom, nana, sister, and friend to many. Born in Haverhill, she was the daughter of George L. and Eva R. (Charron) Warner and a graduate of Haverhill High School, Class of 1958. For 30 years, she was the warm and welcoming face at Pentucket Medical Associates Pediatrics, where her kindness and compassion touched generations of families. For the past 17 years, she called Mission Towers home, where she was not only a resident but a vibrant part of the community, serving as President of the Resident Council and always at the heart of every gathering, event, and project. She also found deep meaning in her faith, serving as a devoted Eucharistic Minister at St. John the Baptist Church in Riverside. Joann had a gift for connection – you couldn’t take her to the grocery store or anywhere around town without hearing someone call out her name. Even in her final month at Haverhill Rehab, visitors and staff would light up upon seeing her, saying, “Oh my gosh, Joann I know her!” Her joyful spirit, kindness, and unwavering love will be missed by all who had the blessing of knowing her.

Joann is survived by her sons Scott M. and Michele Corthell of Plattsburgh, NY, Keith and Andrea Corthell of Kingston, NH, Richard Corthell of Haverhill, and Daniel and Rebecca Corthell of The Colony, TX, and her daughters Susan Brewster of Haverhill, Charron Dean of Maryland, and Ann Marie Corthell and her partner David Spencer of Lancaster, NH. She also leaves behind her sister Sandy Gray of Newport, RI, 25 grandchildren and 32 great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband Sidney Corthell and her son David Corthell, as well as Edward Brewster, Stephen Dean, Robert Warner, Richard Warner, George Warner, Eleanor Brandolini, and Dorothy Jackson.

To the family of Joanne, I am so sorry due to the loss of your beloved one. She added richness to all who knew her and she had time for many in need. I was privileged to have known her for such a short time but in that time I came to know her as a strong, kind woman who was a natural leader.

What an inspiring life story of your Mom; she was a caring, loving woman and I see many of her virtues in you, Charron. May God grant you peace and reassurance that your Mom is loving and praising God as she begins her eternal life.
