John Anthony Reade, 62, of North Andover, died Sunday, July 29 at his home surrounded by his loving family after a courageous battle with cancer.Born in Boston, he was the son of the late, Thomas A. and Lillian M. (Cregan) Reade. Educated in Boston Public Schools, he was a Graduate of South Boston High School, Class of 1968.Mr. Reade was involved in the food industry for his whole career. He owned and operated JR Enterprises. For over twenty-five years, he managed the commissary named “5 & Dine” located at Channel 5 television station in Needham. He loved his job and loved being part of the WCVB Channel 5 family he fed the entire staff, and was completely dedicated to all he served.During his personal time, he enjoyed nothing more than spending time at home along with his wife, Cheryl. They enjoyed camping trips to Angle Pond in New Hampshire, and for many years he volunteered as a stage hand for the Miss Massachusetts Pageant that took place in Fall River.He leaves his beloved wife of twenty-six years, Cheryl A. (Horgan) Reade, of North Andover, two brothers, Thomas Reade, of FL, and Gerard Reade, of Weymouth, two sisters, Elizabeth A. Wilson, and Linda J. Carey, both of Weymouth, sister in law, Linda J. Horgan, of Haverhill, several nieces and nephews and his close friend, Phillip Terenzi. He was predeceased by his sister, Margaret M. Boostrom, and brother in law, Michael J. Horgan.Friends and family are respectfully invited to call on Wednesday, August 1, from 4 until 7 PM at the Kevin B. Comeau Funeral Home, 486 Main St. (Rte 125) Haverhill. Funeral services will be held on Thursday morning at 10:00 AM from the Funeral Home with a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 11:30 AM in St. Michaels Church, 196 Main St. North Andover. Burial will follow in Ridgewood Cemetery, Salem St. North Andover. Memorial donations may be made in his name to the American Cancer Society, 30 Speen St. Framingham, MA 01701.
