Kathleen Marino

Newton, NH — Kathleen Mary (Moynihan) Marino of Newton, NH was surrounded by her loving family when she passed away February 22, 2016, after her courageous battle with cancer.Born in Haverhill, she was the daughter of the late James and Elaine (Murphy) Moynihan. The middle of five children, she graduated St. James Grammar School and Haverhill High School, class of 1966. After getting married and starting a family, she returned to college, graduating Summa Cum Laude with a degree in Criminal Justice from the University of Massachusetts, Lowell.Lieutenant Marino was the first female police officer in Newton, NH. She graduated from the NH Police Academy and was twice named Acting Chief. She was a Juvenile Probation Officer for New Hampshire Juvenile Services in Derry and Portsmouth, eventually rising to Supervisor of Juvenile Services. Kathleen was a board member of Family Mediation and Juvenile Services in Atkinson, NH. A woman of tremendous compassion and strength, she will be greatly missed by her devoted husband, James A. Marino sons and daughter-in-law, James J. Marino &amp Brooke Conti of Cleveland, OH, and Erik E. Marino of Los Angeles brothers and sisters-in-law, Daniel R. Moynihan &amp his wife Beth, of Bradford, John P. Moynihan of Plaistow, and William J. &amp his wife Deborah A. Moynihan of Haverhill and many brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, cousins, nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her sister, Ann Moynihan, CSJ.Family and friends are respectfully invited to attend calling hours on Friday, February 26 from 4:00PM until 7:00PM at the Kevin B. Comeau Funeral Home, 486 Main Street, Haverhill. Funeral services will begin on Saturday, February, 27 at 11:15 from the funeral home with a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 12:15PM at Saint James Church, Winter Street Haverhill.
