Kenneth Thornton Mooers, 79, a lifelong resident of Haverhill, died Saturday, February 11, 2012 at the Merrimack Valley Hospice House after a period of declining health.Born in Haverhill, November 5, 1932, at the Gale Hospital, on Main Street, he was the only child of the late Karl E. and Marion E. (Thornton) Mooers. Kenneth attended Haverhill public schools and was a Graduate of Haverhill Trade School, Class of 1955, where he studied the drafting trade in machine shop. Upon graduation, he continued his education at the Architectural Center in Boston, honing his drafting skills.Mr. Mooers was employed as a Draftsman for Clinton F. Goodwin, Architect, in Washington Square for twenty years. He then went on to Goodwin-Gallagher Engineering, in North Andover until 1982. In 1982 Kenneth began his own drafting and design studio from his home, serving local builders throughout the Merrimack Valley.Although Kenneth Thornton Mooers came from a small family, he actually leaves a very large one, his church family. He took an active roll from the day he joined his beloved Riverside Memorial Church in 1958. Eager to serve his church community, he held many positions there. He especially enjoyed singing in the choir.Friends and family are respectfully invited to attend a Memorial Service for Kenneth on Sunday, February, 26, at 11:30 AM in the Riverside Memorial Church, Groveland St. Haverhill. A private burial will take place in his family lot at Elmwood Cemetery, Bradford. Memorial donations may be made in his name to the East Parish Meeting House Restoration Fund (EPMH) 534 East Broadway, Haverhill, MA 01830 Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Kevin B. Comeau Funeral Home, 486 Main St. (Rte 125) Haverhill.
