Big enough to serve you, small enough to know you.
Michael K. Simonds, 48

Michael K. Simonds, 48

Amesbury – Michael K. Simonds, 48, passed away October 11, 2022 at his home in Amesbury.

Born in Haverhill, he was the son of Michael E. and Kathryn (Brent) Simonds of Salisbury.

Raised and educated in Haverhill, he was a graduate of Whittier Vocational Technical College, class of 1992. For the last few years, Michael was employed at Shaheen Brothers Food Services in the distribution department. A talented artist, his sketches were imaginative and inspiring. He was also a carpenter by trade, often putting his uniques skills to work for family and friends. Fishing brought Mikey great joy, especially fishing underneath the Groveland bridge as a boy, or working on deep sea charter boats out of Hampton and Seabrook later in life. He was a passionate follower of politics and sports, particularly the four Boston pros sports teams, and his brother Brendon’s boxing career as well. Mikey enjoyed staying fit by lifting weights and exercising at local gyms. Spending time with his children gave Mikey the most happiness in life. Mackenzie, his oldest daughter, fondly recalls a long car ride together discussing life’s challenges, that finally landed them at Salisbury beach, enjoying ice cream and punctuated by a huge rainbow shining down on them. Mikey’s big soft heart will be sorely missed by all who loved him.

In addition to his loving parents Michael and Kathryn, he is survived by his children, Mackenzie Simonds of Haverhill, Shea Simonds and Liam Simonds both of Portsmouth NH, siblings Christopher Simonds of Methuen, Brendon Simonds and his wife Lori of Haverhill, Elizabeth Moody and her husband Robert of Salisbury, and Kathleen Smith and her husband Joseph of North Andover. Nieces Kristian Moody, Finleigh Simonds, Bronwyn Simonds and Ryleigh Simonds, also nephews Shawn Moody, Brendon Moody, Jack Henry Simonds and Wyatt Simonds, and several aunts and uncles.

Family and friends are respectfully invited to attend calling hours on Sunday October 16th from 3pm-6pm at the Kevin B. Comeau Funeral Home, 486 Main St. Haverhill. Funeral Services will be held on Monday, October 17th at 11am in the funeral home with burial to follow at Linwood Cemetery, Mill St., Haverhill. Please visit Comeau Funeral Home on Facebook or www.comeaufuneralhome.com. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to www.snapnetwork.org the survivors network of those abused by priests.

    Dear Kathy, Mike, and Family,
We were not able to attend Mike’s services, but we wish to extend our deepest sympathies upon his passing. From reading his obituary, it seems that he was able to find enjoyment and purpose in life in spite of his early trauma brought about in the church setting we attended together, and, he will be missed not only by those who knew of his troubles, but also by a new generation with whom he shared his love. We will be making a contribution in his memory.
with love and memories, Kathy, Jim, and Rose Rurak
