Nancy K. (Skillings) Lamond, 93, of Country Pond, Newton, NH, formerly of Groveland and Haverhill, died peacefully Thursday, May 10, 2012 at her daughter’s home, surrounded by her loving family.Born in Brownsville, Texas, on September 27, 1918, she was the daughter of the late George H. and Louisa H. (Johnston) Skillings. Raised and educated in both Haverhill and Springfield, MA, she was a Graduate of Springfield Technical High School, Class of 1936. After graduation, Nancy would soon begin her dedicated career in the floral industry in 1937.In 1947, Nancy married the late Allan A. “Sonny” Lamond. Together they co-owned and operated the “Posy Shop”, a local florist shop located in Haverhill and later Groveland, for over forty years, finally retiring in 1987.In addition to running her flower shop, Nancy was a dedicated homemaker who enjoyed sewing and making clothes for her family. Upon her retirement, Mrs. Lamond fulfilled a life long dream of living on Country Pond, where she would spend many happy years with family and friends. She will be sadly missed but her lasting legacy will never be forgotten.She leaves her daughter, Ellen L. Demeritt and her husband, Dennis, of Haverhill, a son, Brian Lamond and his wife, Elaine, of Franklin, NH, four grandchildren, Adam B. Lamond, Alexander J. Lamond, Nancy Calverley, and Lani Venturi and her husband Stephen, four great grandchildren, Jason and Jonathan Phaneuf and Jack and Matthew Venturi. She is also survived by three nephews Robert Edwards and his wife Elsa, of Falls Church, VA., Bruce Gray of Honolulu, Hawaii, and Kirk Gray of Amelia Island, Florida. She was predeceased by her aunts and uncles, Arthur and Kathryn Abrams, of Haverhill, and Ruby and Matthew Sullivan, of Springfield.Friends and family are respectfully invited to attend Nancy’s memorial service on Tuesday morning, May 15, 2012 at 11:00 AM in the Kevin B. Comeau Funeral Home, 486 Main St. (Rte 125) Haverhill. A period of visitation will precede the service from 10 AM until 11 AM. Burial will follow in Walnut Cemetery, Kenoza St. Haverhill. Memorial donations may be made to Dana Farber Cancer Institute, 10 Brookline Place West, Floor 6, Brookline, MA 02445-9924 or the charity of one’s choice.
