Bradford – Alice E. (Hanagan) Durgin, 81, wife of the late Robert I. Durgin, with whom she celebrated 60 years of marriage, passed away March 20, 2019 at home surrounded by her loving family.
Born in Bradford, she was the daughter of the late John L. and Helen P. (Vincent) Hanagan. She attended Sacred Hearts Grammar School and attended St. James High School, Class of 1955. She worked at Karelis Jewelers in Haverhill as a bookkeeper before raising her seven children. Alice went back to work at Lenox Nursing Home and Crescent Circuit Boards, both in Bradford. She was employed for several years in Quality Control at Lucent Technologies until her retirement. Alice was active in the Girl Scout organization and earned The Golden Eaglet of Merit, the equivalent to Eagle Scout. She was also active in the Boy Scouts and Cub Scouts. Alice was active at Sacred Hearts Parish, volunteering in serving the church, church suppers, Catholic Charities, and in many other capacities. She had a strong faith which carried her throughout her life. She will be remembered for her generous heart, positive attitude and her loving ways. A devoted wife, mother grandmother and great grandmother, she was known for her love of family. Everyone who knew and loved her will miss her deeply.
Alice is survived by her loving children, Kathleen Boyd and her husband Douglas of Little Rock, AR; Timothy Durgin and his wife Lynne of Manchester, NH; Carol Januszewski and her husband Jay Haverhill; Ellen Miller and her husband Glen of Haverhill; Deborah Durgin of Hampstead, NH; Sarah DiVincentis and her husband Robert of Haverhill; Terry Daneau and her husband John of Auburn, NH; her grandchildren, James Watson, Michelle Carney, Brian Miller, Courtney Townsend, Kristen Beauregard, Kyle Beauregard, Ashley Januszewski, Patrick Durgin, Hannah Durgin, Nicholas and Nathan DiVincentis; great grandchildren, Bo, Makenzie, Karleigh and Rylie; her brother Jay Hanagan and his wife Pearl (Comeau) Hanagan of Bradford; her sister Mary Hanagan of Indiana; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by his son Robert Durgin.
