Haverhill, MA – Bernard D. Murphy, 56, unexpectedly passed away on Wednesday, October 25 at his home.

Bernie was born in Haverhill on March 27, 1967 to John J. and Elizabeth A. (Whitney) Murphy. He was a lifelong resident of Haverhill, graduating in 1985 from Whittier Regional Vocational Technical High School.  Bernie worked for many years as an electrician and programmer for Munters Corporation in Amesbury.  He had a love of the outdoors and bow hunting trips to Alaska, Alabama and Quebec were highlights of his passion. Bernie was a good hearted loving man with his own unique sense of humor, who also enjoyed going out to dinner and dancing.  He will be remembered as a loving husband, father, step grandfather, brother and uncle.

Bernie leaves behind his wife Marie Colon-Murphy, of Haverhill, daughter Grace Kimberly Murphy, of Nashua, NH. Step children Desiree Thorne, of Haverhill, and Roland Thorne, of Nashua, NH.  He also leaves behind sisters Gayle A. Murphy and her husband Richard, of Sarasota, FL and Mary E. Robertson and her husband Daniel, of Haverhill; step-grandson Wiley Richard and step granddaughter Sky Thorne, along with several nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his brother John E. Murphy.

ARRANGEMENTS:  Family and friends are invited to attend calling hours on Wednesday, November 1 from 4PM until 7PM at the Kevin B. Comeau Funeral Home, 486 Main Street, Haverhill. Funeral home chapel service Thursday, November 2 at 11AM.  Burial is private. Donations in his memory may be made to Saint James Church/LMOHP, (Liz Murphy Open Hand Pantry) 6 Cottage Street, Haverhill, MA 01830.     Bernie recently helped me with a project at work and the news of his passing was a big shock. I am blessed to have known Bernie, even if it was for a short time. He will be sorely missed.
