George Elliot Mayo, JR.
12/11/1963 – 01/05/2021
George, more commonly known as Elliot, passed away peacefully in his sleep on January 5th, 2021, at the age of 57, after a courageous yet short battle with cancer. He was excited to recently marry his girlfriend of 17 years, Heidi Carroll. They shared two dogs, Wyle E who met him on the other side and Sadie who was a big daddy’s girl and will miss him. He was raised in Haverhill by the late George and Sandra Mayo, SR. He was loved by his siblings Lisa (Mayo) Samperi, Daniel Mayo, SR and his wife Tammy, Phillip Mayo, and Michelle Mayo and her fiancée Larry Henderson. He was blessed with four children: Melissa Philips who is married to Robert, Eric Mayo, Nicholas Mayo, and Benjamin Mayo. He had a tremendous love for his children and was extremely proud of them and all their accomplishments. His love continued into his extended family: his father and mother-in-law Alan and Sharon Carroll, brother-in-law Austin Carroll and his wife Melissa, sisters-in-law Victoria Noonan and her husband Neal, and Virginia Chicarello and her husband Sean. He had one grandchild: Evan Philips, nieces and nephews: Daniel Mayo, JR, Luke Samperi, Nickolas Samperi, Samantha Mayo, Henry Noonan, Jack Noonan, and Gemma Chicarello, grandnieces and grandnephews: Kiana Richardson, Calvin Samperi, Cameron Elliot Samperi, and Rowan Mayo. He loved them all with his whole heart. After graduating from Whittier Vocational Technical High School Elliot honorably served in The United States Airforce for 4 years. He was a proud veteran and American. Known to many on Facebook for posting the Pledge of Allegiance every morning, he held a lifelong love for his country. After leaving the Airforce, where his cooking journey began, he began his career as a cook, working at restaurants in Florida and Massachusetts. He perfected his talent over the years and loved to cook in his spare time for friends and family. Most know his barbeque could not be beat. In his spare time Elliot enjoyed fishing, listening to music, going to concerts, and watching the Bruins and Patriots. Elliot left an indelible mark on all those he met and will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
There will be calling hours on Saturday January 9, 2021 1pm – 3pm at Kevin B Comeau Funeral Home located at 486 Main St. Haverhill, Ma 01830. There will be a private family service at a later date.
