HAVERHILL, MA – Joan D. Kenney, 85, wife of John E. Kenney, died on Thursday, June 15 at Wingate Residences in Haverhill.
Joan was born in Providence, RI on January 3, 1938 to Daniel and Anna (Tannenbaum) Sullivan. She was educated in Providence schools and attended the University of Rhode Island. She later worked for many years as a hematologist at the Lahey Clinic. Joan loved to sing and play piano; she was a choreographer for local theaters and churches and was a member of the Red Hat Society. Joan enjoyed spending time at the Cohassett Sailing Club and the Westminster Dog Shows, and was a member of the Yankee Siberian Huskey Club. She was known as the Queen of Bling; an avid tennis player, her tennis friends were known as the “Dirty Dozen”. Joan will be remembered as a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. Joan’s family would like to thank the kind, compassionate care given to our family at the Residences at Wingate.
Joan is survived by her husband John E. Kenney, Haverhill, daughter Diane Gannuscio and her husband Joseph, Haverhill, and grandchildren Danielle M. Derderian, Emily Bechara and her husband David, and Abbey Baker. She also leaves behind great grandchildren Youssef and Tannous Bechara.
Family and friends are respectfully invited to attend a celebration of life on Sunday, June 25th at 12PM at the Roma Restaurant, 29 Middlesex St., Haverhill. Please wear animal print, sequent and/or all your bling! In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Scituate Animal Shelter, 780 Chief Justice Cushing Hwy, Scituate, MA 02066.

She is resting in sweet peace, dressed to impress. Always remembered, yet never forgotten for being selfless and a star on the stage, the tennis court, and in everyone’s heart.
