No. Andover – Joanne (DelBene) Champey, 75, formerly of Haverhill, wife of the late James Champey, passed away January 26, 2020 at the Prescott House in No. Andover with her loving family by her side.
Born in Haverhill, she was the daughter of the late Silvio and Eleanor (Garavanta) DelBene. Raised and educated in Haverhill, she attended St. James Grammar School and was a graduate of St. James High School, Class of 1963. Joanne was employed as a receptionist with Liberty Mutual Insurance Company. Joanne and her husband enjoyed many years of camping in the Lakes Regions area. She was a foster parent to many children over the years and was known for her loving and giving heart. With her husband, they were Mr. and Mrs. Claus at the Acevedo House in Methuen for many years. They posed for photographs and all donations went to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital. A devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Joanne will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
Joanne is survived by her children, Deborah Champey of Haverhill; Lisa Ivanovitch and her husband Aaron of Derry, NH; Christina Andrade and her husband Paul of Amherst, NH; Ann Marie Silva of Plaistow, NH; her brother Jack DelBene of Haverhill; her sister, Patricia Joncas and her husband Robert of Haverhill; ten grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband James who passed in 2013, she was predeceased by her sister, Betty Ann Howes of Niagara Falls, NY.
