Haverhill – John W. DeMaris, 74, husband of Carlene “Penney” (Noyes) DeMaris, passed away March 10, 2020 at his home with his loving family by his side.
Born in Haverhill, he was the son of the late Joseph and Elizabeth (Colantoni) DeMaris. Raised and educated in Haverhill, he was a graduate of Haverhill Trade School, Class of 1963. John served his country in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War and was honorably discharged. For over 22 years he served his community as a Haverhill Firefighter and was proud of his job. He also served as an EMT for the City of Haverhill. John was a member of the VFW Lorraine Post 29 and the American Legion Post 4, both of Haverhill. He was a longtime member of Crescent Yacht Club where he could be found playing cards on the weekends. He loved to travel, especially to Foxwoods, Mohegan Sun, Atlantic City and Las Vegas. John enjoyed deep sea fishing, fresh water fishing and vacations in Aruba. He loved watching western movies and Everyone Loves Raymond. Family was everything to him and he loved having family parties and hosting holidays. He was a loving and devoted father who set an example for his children in the way he lived his life. When his parents were alive, he would visit them on a daily basis, making sure they were well cared for. John will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
Surviving John is his loving wife Penney and his children, Michelle R. Fleming and her husband Mark; John K. DeMaris and his wife Julie; Elizabeth A. Stempien Jennifer M. Camarato and her husband John; Bryan M. Roe and his fiancé` Rachel Therriault, stepdaughter, Stacey Guptill, all of Haverhill, ; eleven grandchildren, Daniel Mayo Jr. and fiancé` Stephanie Martin, Brandi DeMaris-Welch, Jeramie and his wife Lauren DeMaris, Kaleigh Flemiing, Markie Flemiing, Ashleigh DeMaris and her fiancé` Kevin Galva, Morgan Moran, Keegan Moran, Jack Graham, Max Graham and Benjamin Camarato; great granddaughter, Elianna Rivera; sister in law, Debra Oickle; and a niece and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother Richard DeMaris and sisters, Marie Serano and Elizabeth Olsen.
Family and friends are respectfully invited to attend calling hours on Sunday, March 15 from 2:00PM until 5:00PM at the Kevin B. Comeau Funeral Home, 486 Main Street, Haverhill. Funeral services will be in the funeral home on Monday morning at 11:00AM Burial will follow in St. Patrick’s Cemetery, North Broadway, Haverhill.
