Salem, NH – Matriarch of The Reitano Family, Joyce A. (Carr) Reitano, age 87, a longtime resident of Salem, NH, gained her angel wings as she passed peacefully at Cedar View in Methuen. She was the widow of the late Salvatore J. Reitano, with whom she shared 63 years of marriage before he passed away in 2015.
Born and raised in Lawrence, Joyce overcame great challenges in life, yet shared kindness and generosity with everyone she met. In addition to caring for her five children, Joyce worked for many years in the cafeteria at Holy Family hospital. She was a devout Catholic, serving as a member of the Catholic Daughters and as a Eucharistic minister. She was also a member of the Red Hat Society. Showing that you can make a positive impact with a compassionate heart will be Joyce’s legacy.
Joyce leaves behind three sons – David Reitano and his wife, Anne; Daniel Reitano and his wife, Tammy (Leocata); and Gary Reitano, all residents of Methuen; her grandchildren, Brooke Reitano-Johnson, Shane Reitano, Brittney Reitano-Conte and Ashley Reitano; great-grandchildren Ellis, Piero, Nahli and Shiya. Joyce is also survived by her doting niece, Sue Ellen Higgins. Joyce was predeceased by daughters Joyce Mary Reitano and Lisa Rose Reitano; grandson, Travis Reitano; brothers Joseph, Donald and Russell Carr.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, October 11, at 11:00 AM at Mary Queen of Peace, 200 Lawrence Rd., Salem, NH. Burial will follow at Pine Grove Cemetery, 329 Main St., Salem, NH.
