Haverhill – Lorraine T. (Poirier) Rourke, 92, wife of the late Charles T. Rourke, Sr., passed away July 11, 2019 at Penacook Place in Haverhill with her loving family by her side.
Born in Lawrence, she was the daughter of Jerome and Edith (Blanchard) Poirier. She attended St. Joseph’s Grammar School and was a graduate of St. Mary’s High School, Class of 1945. Lorraine was employed at Bride Grimes Inc. in Lawrence and at Compugraphic Corporation while raising 6 children. On any given day she could be found playing 45’s at the Senior Center. She loved Big Band music and dancing with her husband. Lorraine enjoyed traveling all over New England, visiting the White Mountains. She loved the beach and when her children were young, she rented a cottage at Hampton Beach and Salisbury Beach. She will be remembered as a devoted wife, mother and grandmother who will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
Lorraine is survived by her children, Michael Rourke and his wife Donna of Rowley; William P. Rourke and his wife Jill of Andover; Stephen P. Rourke of Wilmington; Beth-Ann Rourke of Haverhill; Carol Marie Sheehan and her husband Daniel of Newmarket, NH; twelve grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband Charles, she was predeceased by her son, Charles T. Rourke, Jr. Lorraine was one of 14 siblings and was predeceased by her brothers and sisters.
Family and friends are respectfully invited to attend calling hours on Wednesday, July 17 from 9:00AM until 11:00AM at the Kevin B. Comeau Funeral Home, 486 Main Street, Haverhill. A funeral service will follow in the funeral home at 11:00AM. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Immaculate Conception Cemetery, 29 Barker Street, Lawrence.
