HAVERHILL – Marie E. (Dawkins) Gelinas, 89, passed away on Saturday, August 17 at Lawrence General Hospital.
Marie was born in Haverhill the daughter of Reginald A. and Philomena (Pelosi) Dawkins. She was a graduate of St. James High School. She worked in a variety of industries in Essex County but had the fondest memories working at the former department store JM Fields and as a lunch lady at Rock’s Village. Marie enjoyed socializing at the Haverhill Senior Center and was an experienced quilter; working at home making garments or quilts for family, friends, and servicemen. Marie cherished her family, spending quality time with her grandchildren on most weekends during their childhood. She loved watching classic Western movies, baking apple or rhubarb pies for family holidays, and going to quilt/craft fairs.
Marie was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She is survived by her son Joseph Gelinas and Rosemarie Lemay of Windham, NH, brother Paul Dawkins and his wife Pamela of Hudson, NH; grandchildren Paul and Melissa Gelinas of Plaistow, NH, John and Stacy Gelinas of Derry, NH, Robert Kennell and Tina Kozak of Farmington, NH; great grandchildren Jaiden, Aubriella, Madison, Bradley and Kinsley; and several nieces and nephews. Marie was predeceased by her husband Phillip P. Gelinas, daughter Phillippa (Gelinas) O’Meara, sister Joanne Sullivan, and brothers Reginald Dawkins, Jr. and George Dawkins.
ARRANGEMENTS: Family and friends are respectfully invited to attend a graveside service on Friday, August 23 at 1PM St. Patrick’s Cemetery, 395 N. Broadway, Haverhill.
