Mary A. (Flaherty) Greenwood August 18, 1932 - January 6, 2020

Haverhill – Mary A. (Flaherty) Greenwood, 87, wife of the late Robert Greenwood, passed away January 6, 2020 at Holy Family Hospital in Methuen surrounded by her loving family.

Born in Haverhill, she was the daughter of the late Maurice C. and Pearl E. (Horne) Flaherty. Raised and educated in Haverhill, she attended Sacred Hearts School and Haverhill High School. Mary began her career in the Haverhill shoe industry, then moved to the former Western Electric, AT& T and retiring from Lucent Technologies after 25 years. She met her husband Robert while working in the shoe industry. Mary was extremely social and had a wide circle of friends. She enjoyed her bowling league, traveling on cruises, to Ireland and throughout the United States. Known for her great sense of humor and quick wit, she will also be remembered for her compassionate and caring spirit for everyone she met. Mary loved entertaining for the holidays and Sunday dinner with family was very important to her. A strong woman with a zest for life, she was devoted to her family. Mary lived for her grandchildren and great grandchildren, never missing any events in their lives. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her. The family would like to thank everyone that loved and cared for her at the Nevin’s Nursing Home in Methuen.

Mary is survived by her daughters, Mary E. Carrasquillo and her husband Jaime of Salem, NH; Patricia E. Lane and her husband Jeffrey P. of Methuen; Kathleen A. Abromovitch and her husband John P. of Haverhill; her beloved grandchildren, Jason R. Carrasquillo and his wife Megan, Amy E. Carrasquillo, Daniel R. Lane, Michael P. Lane, Cory P. Abromovitch, and Cameron R. Abromovitch; three great grandchildren, Jayce Carrasquillo, Sawyer Carrasquillo and Hunter Carrasquillo; her sister, Elizabeth Bradley and her husband Richard of Bradford; her brother, James Flaherty and his wife Jean of Bradford; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband Robert, she was predeceased by her brother, Maurice C. Flaherty, Jr.
