May 17, 2021 at 8:44 pmSo sorry to hear that Mary has passed away! I really enjoyed her company when she came and got her hair done! And loved how she was so happy that her son Mike was living with her! I will miss her very much and she was such a good sport when I would soak her from her shoulders to her butt!

May 28, 2023 at 9:13 pmI only just learned of Mrs. Murphy’s passing this weekend from visiting guests. To her family, she was one of a kind and I’m so sorry for your loss; the photo you chose has the smile I remember!
I was a student at Montville High during her tenure and have some of the absolute best stories and memories of this beautiful lady…one being my forged hall passes. My handwriting was identical to hers; I use to take the blank ones, sign “MDM” in her elegant style, and give them to my friends to fill in. One day, Mrs. Murphy saw me roaming – as I often did and asked if I had a pass; I handed her one of “hers.” She couldn’t help but laugh once she actually watched me write her initials, but I got in trouble. I NOW know what that “D” stood for! I have a hundred other funny tales but what I recall most is her compassion, wisdom, kindness, and her easy smile and ability to laugh.
After graduation, I went back to visit her a couple of times at the school; she even attended my wedding in 1993. I had nothing but the utmost respect for Mrs. Murphy, despite multiple suspensions, I absolutely loved seeing her. Montville High School was incredibly lucky to have her on board, and I was even luckier to know just how much she cared about the success of her students. Rest in peace, MDM, and thank you for all you did for me in the 80’s.
