Maureen Patricia (Mitchell) Bailey died peacefully on March 23 in her hometown of Haverhill, MA.
Born April 19, 1942, she was the only child of John H. and Mary E. (Driscoll) Mitchell. After starting her career in cosmetology, she and her husband Charles “Biff” Bailey opened a local business called “Hairstyles Unlimited”. Later, Maureen started up “Bailey’s Hair Care “ in Andover, MA , where she worked for 35 years. Her clients were some of her greatest friends. Adept at gardening, Maureen decorated her salon with floral window boxes, which were the talk of the town. When not working, she enjoyed many trips to Calabria, Italy with her companion John. In spite of her Irish heritage, Maureen had a flair for Italian cooking. Meals celebrated at Maureen’s house were both elegant and impressive. She retired to southwest Florida, but always called New England her home. The family would like to thank the devoted staff at Aspen Hill in Haverhill for the care they gave her.
Maureen is survived by her son Charles “Chip” Bailey and is wife Maura, daughter Noreen Bailey and her companion Kevin Phaneuf; grandchildren Dylan Bailey and his fiancé Alix, Charles Bailey, Madison and her wife Kyrsten Bailey, John Bailey, Dallas Bailey and Yvonne Dean-Bailey; and two great-grandchildren Quinn and Hugh.
Maureen is predeceased by her husband Charles M. Bailey, and son Michael J. Bailey.

March 30, 2023 at 6:30 pmMaureen was a wonderful person with a warm personality, a quick wit, and a curiosity about the world and the people in it. I looked forward to every hair appointment with her because I knew we’d be laughing! She also lovingly tended to my mother’s hair, including coming to the house when she could no longer manage to get to the salon. I loved our regular phone chats once she moved to Florida, and I am grateful I got to see her after Christmas in Haverhill. She was a bright light and I will miss her. Her bubbly voice and warm smile are still with me. My deepest sympathy to you, Chipper, Maura, Noreen, and the grandkids.
