Haverhill – Michelle (DeLuca) Benedetti, 51, wife of Joseph A. Benedetti, passed away May 30, 2019 at High Pointe Hospice in Haverhill after a courageous battle with cancer. Her long fight didn’t define her, however, nor did it slow her down. She made every moment count, right up to the last. She was surrounded by her loving family.
Born in Methuen, she was the daughter of Robert J. and Olive M. (Robichaud) DeLuca of Haverhill. She attended St. Mary’s High School and graduated in Class of 1986. Michelle obtained her Master’s Degree from University of Massachusetts, Lowell. For 21 years she was employed with the State of Massachusetts in the Department of Children and Families as a Social Worker and Supervisor, working in the Haverhill Office since 2001. Michelle was hard working with strong principles and was devoted to her profession. She was always giving to others and her giving spirit transcended in her work and family life. Her work impacted the lives of countless people.
Michelle was an active woman, constantly challenging herself with crossfit, distance running, and yoga. She also knew how to relax. You could often find her with her toes in the sand at the beach and a glass of wine at the ready. She had a great sense of humor and was known for her sharp and quick wit. She loved life and lived for her family and her pets, especially her dog Zoe and cat Lola. A devoted wife, mother, daughter and sister she will be sorely missed by all who knew and loved her.
In addition to her loving husband Joseph, she is survived by her sons, Jonathan P. Basile and Ryan C. Basile, both of Haverhill; her step children, Alec P. Benedetti of Haverhill; Tatiana J. Benedetti of Somerville; Samantha H. Benedetti of Burlington, VT; her brothers, Kenneth C. DeLuca of Portsmouth, NH; Mark R. DeLuca and his partner Heidi Deschamps of Atkinson, NH; her uncle and aunt, Richard and Dolores Boettcher of North Andover, her cousins, Thomas and Jennifer Boettcher of Wakefield, April and William Winter of Ashburnham, nieces and nephews, Matthew, Jillian, Robert, Katherine, Samuel and Jessica DeLuca, and cousins Cassandra and Sidney Boettcher, and Maverick Winter and her former husband Paul Basile.
