HAVERHILL, MA – Nancy J. (McCarthy) Williams, 84, of Haverhill, passed away Thursday, June 15 at Lawrence General Hospital, with her family by her side, after a long illness.
A lifelong resident of Haverhill, she was the daughter of the late P. Joseph & Caroline McCarthy.
A beloved housewife, she was known for her famous family dinners as well as having a spotless house. She started the 45 Card Club at West Meadow and was on the social committee for holding yard sales and cookouts.
Nancy leaves behind her daughters Karen E. Williams of Haverhill, and Cheryl A. & her husband Chuck Espinola of Derry, NH; and her son Kevin A. & his wife Cheryl Williams of Haverhill. Five cherished grandsons, Nicholas & wife Megan Espinola of Queens, NY, Christopher Espinola of Derry, NH, and Andrew, Brian & Justin Williams of Haverhill. She also leaves behind her two great grandchildren Jack Charles Espinola & Grace Catherine Espinola. She is also survived by her three sisters Marilyn McCarthy of Bradford, Ruth Mara of Peabody, & Patricia Godfrey of Raymond, NH. Nancy was predeceased by her husband of 53 years Richard (Plaz) Williams in 2013; and by her brother Robert J. McCarthy.
Memorial donations may be made in her name to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis TN 38105.
Family and friends are respectfully invited to attend calling hours on Monday June 19 from 4PM – 7PM at the Kevin B. Comeau Funeral Home 486 Main Street, Haverhill. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, June 20 at 10:30AM at St. James Church, 185 Winter Street, Haverhill. Burial to follow at St. James Cemetery, 360 Primrose Street, Haverhill. Nancy loved to cook & entertain & always had the best dinners. We would play different games & had a wonderful time. Her husband was by her side & enjoyed it all. Some of my fondest memories are of both your parents, whom I babysat for when Cheryl and Karen were little. As well as the parties they attended at my parent’s home.
