West Newbury – Patricia C. (Gibney) Verrette, 80, wife of John P. Verrette with whom she shared 56 years of marriage, passed away January 14, 2022 at Anna Jacques Hospital in Newburyport.

Born in Haverhill, she was the daughter of the late William H. and Genevieve M. (Zinno) Gibney. Raised and educated in Haverhill, she attended St. James Grammar School and was a graduate of St. James High School, Class of 1959. Patricia worked at John Hancock Insurance Company in Haverhill, Kealey Farms in Salem, NH, in the cafeteria at Haverhill High School and most recently as a teacher’s aide in the Kindergarten at the Page School in West Newbury. She loved to garden and took great care in her yard. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

In addition to her loving husband, she is survived by her sons, John C. Verrette and his wife Jerra of Andover and Jeffrey W. Verrette and his wife Susan of Haverhill; grandchildren, Michaela, Maeghan, Jacklyn and Nicole; siblings, James W. Gibney and his wife Judith of Haverhill, Francis Gibney of Haverhill, John P Gibney and his wife Katherine of Methuen and Barbra Guidi and her husband Dr. Michael Guidi of Hampton, NH; and several nieces and nephews.

    I worked with Pat in the cafeteria at the High School, I found a very nice friend in Pat. She is one of the nicest people I have ever met and worked with. I thought very highly of her. She will be missed at our breakfast meetings of the cafeteria friends. I am very sorry for your loss.
