Patricia E. (Shanahan) Francis November 8, 1935 - January 1, 2019

Raymond, NH – Patricia E. (Shanahan) Francis, 83, beloved wife of Richard W. Francis, passed away January 1, 2019 at Exeter Hospital in Exeter, NH surrounded by her loving family.

Born in Haverhill, she was the daughter of the late Joseph W. and Eileen F. (Boner) Shanahan. She was raised and educated in Groveland and was a graduate of Groveland High School, Class of 1953. Patricia followed in the footsteps of her father and was employed with the United States Postal Service as a Rural Mail Carrier, first in West Newbury and then Palm Harbor, FL. She was an active member of the National Rural Letter Carriers’ Association, where she traveled for many conventions across the United States. Patricia also enjoyed traveling with her husband of 65 beautiful years to Ireland, Mexico, Hawaii and on many cruises with their close-knit group of friends. Most recently she enjoyed traveling with her family on an Alaskan cruise. She primarily raised her family in Groveland and West Newbury, and also lived in Glendale, AZ, Palm Harbor, FL for over 19 years, Kingston, NH, Raymond, NH and Spring Hill, FL. Patricia was an avid reader and long-time member of the family book club. Known for entertaining on holidays and for family gatherings, she loved to cook and was devoted to her family. A loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother, she will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

In addition to her loving husband, Patricia is survived by her children, Richard W. Francis, Jr. of Newton, NH; Joanne P. Moreau and her husband Ronald of Plaistow, NH; Mary Russell and her husband Richard of Newton, NH; Theresa A. Roccapriore and her husband Paul of Groveland; Michelle M. Spurr and her husband Raymond of Bradford; her siblings, Geraldine Wasilewski and her husband Richard of Adams; Jean Lord and her husband Alan of Groveland; Timothy Shanahan of Haverhill; Kathleen Kervin and her husband David of Groveland; ten grandchildren and seven great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her sister Maureen Roberts and her brother Joseph Shanahan Jr.
