Phillip O. Willis, 70, passed away May 27, 2019 at Boston Medical Center with his loving family by his side.
Born in Trelawny, Jamaica he was the son of the late Joseph E. and Olive Willis. He grew up in Jamaica and worked as a Fine Furniture Maker before migrating to the United States in 1984 and settling in New York. He later moved to Haverhill MA, where he worked at Vernon Plastics in Haverhill and Polar Tech in Lawrence. Phillip was a fitness enthusiast and enjoyed taking care of himself. He loved to cook, especially the vegetables he grew every year in a church community garden, which he shared with his family and friends. Phillip was very active in his church where he enjoyed singing gospel music and participating in church plays. He was a Bible Scholar and had a strong faith which he shared with everyone. Known for his big heart and caring spirit, he was an inspiration for his family and friends. Everyone looked up to him and he was always there for all in need. He enjoyed watching the History channel and was always elated to share his knowledge with others. Phillip always told his family that “a good education is important to be successful in life and that knowledge is Power.” Family and friends will miss his loving ways, gentle spirit and his love for everyone he met.
Phillip is survived by his 7 children, Donna Willis of VA; Ann Marie Willis-Suer and her husband Antonio of Haverhill; Dujuan Willis of New York; Marian Willis of Haverhill; Andre Willis of Salem, NH; Brandon Willis of Haverhill; Sophia Willis of Rochester, NH; five siblings; eleven grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
