Merrimac – Richard S. Strangman, 67, of Merrimac passed away peacefully at the Haverhill Rehab and Health Center after a courageous battle with cancer.
Richard was born in Brighton and raised in Manchester by the Sea. He was the son of the late, Lester and Alice (Bell) Strangman. He was a graduate of Manchester High School, Class of 1976 and also attended Whittier Tech where he studied the automotive repair trade. For several years he was employed as a mechanic and fabricator at CB Restorations in Bradford until his retirement this past March. Richard will be remembered for his sarcastic sense of humor and his love of his work in the automotive industry. He enjoyed spending time at the Lee Raceway, going to mud truck races in Vermont and Maine, and camping; and was also a model train enthusiast. He was a loving partner, father, brother and uncle.
Richard is survived by his devoted fiancé of 12 years Diane Tambe of Merrimac, his son Domenico Tambe of Merrimac, his sisters Diane Collins of North Reading, and Nancy Gonthier and her husband Claude of Amesbury; and several loving nieces and nephews.
