OSTERVILLE – Robert Francis Boland peacefully passed away on March 15, 2019 after a brief hospitalization in Myrtle Beach, SC. Bob was born in Malden, MA on April 3, 1951 to Francis and Claire (Cronin) Boland. “Booka” was the high school sweetheart and husband to Kathy (McCarthy) for 44 years. He will be greatly missed by his daughter Allison (Jeff) Auerbach and son Bob Jr., and his grandchildren Hudson, Cambridge and Harper Auerbach.
Bob was a graduate of Malden Catholic High School and Northeastern University. He was a member of the NU crew team and proud of their many Head of the Charles victories and participation in the 1972 Olympic Trials. He owned Proforma ARK Graphics, Inc. which specialized in patient identification and hospital barcoding systems in Boston and Southeastern Massachusetts.
Bob was past president of Barnstable Youth Hockey League and enjoyed many years of coaching his son’s hockey teams. He also assisted with the training of his daughter’s swim and crew teams. Family vacations, days at the beach, and entertaining at his home were times that brought great joy to Bob’s life. When he wasn’t with family you might find him on the golf course or riding long distances on his bike.
Saddened by their loss are Bob’s siblings Charlie (Jeanne) Boland, Danny (Jeanne) Boland, Claire (Bill) Lester, Joanne (Ralph) Weeden and Frank Boland; and Kathy’s family, Eileen (Rick) Shuman, Bill McCarthy and Mike (Peg) McCarthy. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends MJ & Jeff Carpenter.
