Robert H. Miller February 6, 1935 - October 27, 2019

Robert (Bob) Henry Miller passed away on October 27, 2019 with his loving family by his side and his truck keys in his hand. He was born on February 6, 1935 in North Adams, MA. His life truly began when he was placed in the care of Lillian Poore of Groveland, MA who provided him a loving home which he resided in for decades and remains in the family. Bob, lovingly known by many as Gramps, worked hard his entire life including humbly serving in the Army Reserves and National Guard for 6 years. His family only recently found out about serving our country as he did not feel deserving of the title Veteran. He was also a Sargent for the Haverhill Auxiliary Police before settling down and having a family. He would take the shirt off his back for you and then pay you to take it. He always talked of the millions of cars he’d owned and roads he paved, possibly the same ones in repeating stories. All true, because he never lied; he had no reason to. His presence was known by his almost permanent smell of pavement, coffee and cigarettes.

He unwillingly retired at 77 years old from Bresnahan & Horrigan. Although he claimed was ageism, we all knew it was time. At that point, he decided his new career would be a professional complainer, coffee and donut taster, and best bud to his great grandkids. The family regrets to inform a major coffee chain that their profits will be rapidly declining with his passing and they will not have a buyer for all their jelly donuts. Local Auto parts no longer need to stock Cobra door locks covers and Eagle stickers. For 15 years he said he was ready for the bone-yard having accomplished nothing; however, his family will tell you he literally and figuratively paved the way so they could have better lives. They were incredibly blessed to make many amazing memories with him by their side, whether he wanted to or not.

He is survived by his ex-wife, Jackie Paul of Hampstead, NH; whom became a beloved friend. Also by his Daughter, Terrie Clarke and her Husband Leo Clarke of Groveland, MA; his son Michael Miller and long time partner of Exeter, NH; grandchildren Lia & Matt Sprague of Hampstead, NH, Pamela and Will Boddy of Plaistow, NH with whom he resided with in the last 10 years, and the one who thought she was the favorite: Amy Clarke of Groveland, MA. He was also the proud great grandfather of Kagen, Landon, Aislinn, Caleb, Quinn and 2 pups. He will also be remembered by his many friends in the coffee crew. His greatest wish at this time would be that we boohoo for a few days then take a couple Aspirin, go home and quit complaining.

The family invites you to remember him fondly on Friday, November 8th from 6-8 pm at the Kevin B. Comeau Funeral Home, 486 Main Street, Haverhill. They strongly request in lieu of flowers, to make a donation in honor of Gramps’ buddy Caleb to the BIDMC NICU, Attn: Molly Fraust Wylie, Neonatology Rose 3, 330 Brookline Ave., Boston, MA 02215. After all, he would remind you flowers are a waste and just die anyway. Funeral services will be private. Please visit Comeau Funeral Home on Facebook or www.comeaufuneral.com

We are so sorry about your loss. I always remembered Uncle Bob at his home with a swimming pool in the backyard and us kids riding in the back of his pick up truck. May he rest in heaven. God Bless
