PLAISTOW, NH – Robert Lee Christian Sr., of Plaistow, NH, passed away on Monday, May 13 at his home at the age of 79.
Bob was born in Biddeford, ME the son of the late Robert T. and Esther (Lee) Christian. After graduating from Haverhill Trade School in 1962, he served in the US Navy with the Seabees. He attended Northeast Technical School in Boston and went on to own and operate two HVAC businesses, RLC Mechanical and Mountain Air. Bob became one of Jehovah’s Witnesses in 1981 and spent many happy years volunteering his time and experience to help build and renovate Kingdom Halls and Assembly Halls throughout New England.
Many remember Bob for his warm smile, hearty laughter, and generous spirit to lend a hand to anyone who needed help. He loved his New England sports teams, as well as golfing, fishing, and hiking in the New Hampshire woods near the family camp.
Above all, Bob loved people, but especially his family. He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Judith “Judy” (Tufts) Christian, and his five children: Robert L. Christian, Jr. and his wife Lisa of Derry, NH; Adam W. Christian and his wife Janis of Derry, NH; Julie A. Garrett and her husband Kenneth of Haverhill, MA; Matthew B. Christian and his wife Jennifer of Ossipee, NH; and Beth E. McIntosh and her husband Sean of Hopkinton, NH. He also leaves behind his brother Mark Christian of Haverhill, MA and his sister Margaret “Peggy” Vannella of Salem, NH, granddaughters Alexa Sibo, Lyndsay Christian, Brooke Christian, Olivia Christian, Sara McIntosh and Anna McIntosh, as well as many beloved nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends. Bob was predeceased by his brother John Christian.
ARRANGEMENTS: There will be a memorial service at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, 410 Water Street, Haverhill, MA on Saturday, June 15th at 2:00pm.
