Haverhill – Shirley M. (DeBlois) Cote, 99, wife of the late Henry J. Cote, passed away at home with her loving family by her side on July 13, 2021.
Born in Haverhill, she was the daughter of the late Leon E. and Edith M. (Gormley) DeBlois. Raised and educated in Haverhill, she was a graduate of Haverhill High School, Class of 1940. Shirley was employed at the former Western Electric as a quality control inspector from 1963 until her retirement in 1981. She loved playing bingo at the Seabrook Fire House. Shirley enjoyed knitting, reading, getting her hair done, eating out with friends and family and spending time at the beach, Salisbury Beach was her favorite. Family was important for Shirley and she cherished her time with them. Shirley will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
Shirley is survived by her son Bruce Cook and his wife Rhoda of Haverhill; fifteen grandchildren, including her granddaughter Monique Merchant and her husband Daniel, who were her caregivers and with whom she lived; many great grandchildren; several great great grandchildren; daughter in law, Diane Cook of Groveland; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband Henry, she was predeceased by her children, Henry “Butch” Cook, Jr., William “Bill” Cook, Sharon Marie Cook and Frank Cook and her sister Pauline Whitehouse.
Family and friends are respectfully invited to attend calling hours on Saturday, July 17 from 10:00AM until 12 Noon at the Kevin B. Comeau Funeral Home, 486 Main Street, Haverhill.
